Christian Service Program

Holy Cross High School Christian Service Program helps students become aware of the needs of others and become responsible members of the Christian community in response to Jesus’ message of love and service. This Program helps improve interpersonal communication skills, enhance empathy towards others, and clarify personal beliefs. The meaningful service students perform serves to enrich their relationship with Christ.

Students in grades 9 through 11 are required to fulfill a minimum of 20 hours of service (5 + hours per quarter). Written reflections are a graded requirement of the theology department. Service forms are distributed to students by their Theology teachers.

Students in grade 12 are required to fulfill a minimum of 40 service hours at one agency or ministry. (10+ hours per quarter) Written reflections are a graded requirement of the theology department. Seniors working towards the Presidential Service Award are required to complete 100+ service hours by April 15 of each year.

GIFTS Service Trip

-Growing In Faith Through Service-

Each summer, Holy Cross students travel to volunteer with St. Bernard Project. Students learn things like how to install metal fascia, hang and spackle drywall, and a variety of other tasks. Most importantly, students developed a greater understanding of what it means to serve.

Each evening, students gathered to discuss the day, pray together, and share where they saw the face of Christ each day. Ricky Williams (a former participant) says, “One of my favorite parts about the trip would have to be the Christ moments we shared every day. In today’s world, especially as a teenager, it can be frowned upon to talk about your faith or how you really felt about something. When we were sharing those Christ moments, I felt I was able to feel the presence of God in a way I haven’t felt in years.”

The trip is made possible through generous donations from Holy Cross families and local businesses, for which we are exetremely grateful.
